What a wonderful evening in support of the Royal Brompton & Harefield Arts. Their world-class arts programme offers opportunities to see, hear and participate in creative events – and last night’s fund raising event – at 1 North Terrace – saw examples of their project work …
Supporters were able to view and buy paintings that had been donated – works by Diana Tapping, Steven Appleby, John Keane, Gilbert & George & Will Clarke. Diana also ran a workshop in the venue’s basement for folk to try their hand at their own creations – some very imaginative pieces!
The audience heard from Joy Godden, Director of Nursing & Governance at the Royal Brompton & Harefield Hospital NHS Foundation Trust. Her work ensures that patient care is at the forefront of the hospital’s work. Joy is also a champion of the arts and the transforming role it can play in healthcare.
All assembled also heard from Rose Darvill of South Kensington Estates. Rose explained the company’s passion for art and design together with their support for the charity’s work – and highlighted that the event was an intro for the upcoming season that will see the estate working hand in hand with Brompton Design District to deliver the area’s contribution for this year’s London Design Festival (16-24 September).
Singing for Breathing performed – a choir of out patients living with chronic obstruction pulmonary disease and other respitatory conditions. They were led by Tara Chapman, a British Lung Foundation trained Singing for Lung Health facilitator … and all were invited to join in!
